The 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment (PIR) was activated on 01 May 1942 at Fort Benning, Georgia. The Regiment was subsequently assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division on 15 August 1942 and embarked to North Africa on 29 April 1943. It would see action across every major campaign in the Mediteranian and European Theaters of Operation in World War II including Operation Husky, Operation Avalanche, Operation Shingle, Operation Overlord, Operation Market Garden, the Battle of the Bulge, and the Allied Invasion of Germany.
We strive to accurately portray the 504th PIR throughout it’s various campaigns in World War II. Building this impression can be extremely challenging due to the regiment’s length of service and the numerous campaigns in which it fought. This section provides the history of the 504th PIR during World War II and the guidelines for impressions we utilize at events throughout the year.
Our goal is to make this process a little less daunting for our new recruits. Remember, your mentor and the rest of our members are always available to answer your questions as it pertains to building your 504th PIR impression.
